Starfish Family Services proposes to purchase and renovate a vacant building in Brightmoor to create a vibrant new neighborhood space that provides early childhood education and access to behavioral health services. In recent years, Starfish Family Services received state dollars in support of a similar project in the Boynton-Oakwood Heights Neighborhood. Starfish is renovating a long vacant former school building and transforming it into a high-quality early childhood center with access to behavioral health services. In this project and with others, Starfish has made it a priority to partner with other local non-profits, in an effort to most efficiently combine resources to expand supports and services for families so that every dollar spent is maximized to its fullest potential. This new site in Brightmoor will offer a multidisciplinary approach serving both children and caregivers, become a trusted hub for family support, health, and learning, and create up to 96 new early childhood education slots, reducing scarcity and empowering families.
