Funding Details

$750,000.00
6. What is the purpose and how does the legislatively directed spending item provide a public benefit that is an appropriate use of taxpayer money?
Funding will be used to construct a permanent farmers market structure for the farmers market that has operated at North Rosedale Park for over 20 years. This market serves as not only a farmers market, that allows microbusinesses to thrive, but a resource hub for local residents to receive other services, like back to school drives and free haircuts. Currently the market operates with temporary tent structures and lacks reliable electricity, sometimes forcing the market to cancel operations due to weather or early sunsets, leaving vendors and community residents with some uncertainty about when the market will open. A permanent structure will allow for more reliability of market operations, increased lighting for vendors and participants, and an overall better experience. The GRDC has already completed planning so this funding solely support the construction of the new structure
