6. What is the purpose and how does the legislatively directed spending item provide a public benefit that is an appropriate use of taxpayer money?
The funding will be used to deploy 115 AmeriCorps Student Success coaches in 14 DPSCD schools. They will provide math, ELA and SEL tutoring and coaching. Additionally, AmeriCorps volunteers will receive workforce development training and career development opportunities throughout the service year. They will receive 300+ hours of professional development that prepares them for the workforce in high-demand industries.
