The City of Pontiac's 50th District Court and Oakland County Sheriff's Substation operate in buildings are are far beyond their intended service life and face severe structural, mechanical, electrical, and ADA related deficiencies. Independent 2023 evaluations document over $15 million in immediate repair needs across the two facilities - costs that would only restore minimal functionality without addressing long term safety, efficiency, or accessibility programs. A $4 million grand would allow the City to replace the deteriorated court building as phase one of an integrated Justice complex constructed within an existing city owned building. This would eliminate land acquisition costs and accelerate project delivery. Consolidating municipal services will not only allow for the modernization of the buildings but will also reduce the cost to operate them. This project represents a fiscally responsible, public interest investment that strengthens public safety, enhances access to justice, and ensures long term operational sustainability.
