The purpose of this request is to fund the development and construction of a modern, fully compliant fire station to replace the City’s current facility, which is outdated, undersized, and no longer suitable for safe and effective operations. The existing fire station requires significant structural and mechanical upgrades and does not adequately meet current safety standards, operational needs, or workforce requirements. A new facility is essential to support emergency response readiness, firefighter safety, and service efficiency. The construction of a new fire station will significantly enhance public safety and emergency response capabilities throughout the City of Inkster. A modern facility will allow firefighters to respond more quickly and efficiently to emergencies, improving response times and service delivery. The new station will also provide appropriate space for updated equipment, training, decontamination, and operational support, ensuring compliance with current safety standards. Additionally, improved working conditions will promote firefighter health, safety, and retention. Collectively, these improvements will strengthen community protection, enhance service reliability, and ensure better emergency outcomes for residents, businesses, and visitors.
