Garden City Hall, located at 6000 Middlebelt Road, is a critical public facility that serves both City administrative functions and the 21st District Court, yet the building’s aging mechanical systems and deteriorating condition now require major investment to remain safe, functional, and cost-effective. Originally built in 1963, with an addition completed in 1980, City Hall continues to rely on an outdated boiler and HVAC system that can no longer provide the consistent, efficient operation needed for a modern public building. As the system ages, maintenance demands increase, reliability declines, and energy costs continue to rise due to inefficient heating and cooling performance. Replacing the HVAC system is essential not only to stabilize building operations, but also to reduce unnecessary energy consumption, improve environmental performance, and better manage long-term utility expenses. Federal grant funding is needed to help the City address these urgent infrastructure needs, maintain this vital public building, and ensure residents, staff, and court users have a safe, dependable, and energy-efficient facility for years to come.
