- Workforce Training, Development, and Placement Central Detroit Christian (CDC) is committed to helping Detroit residents build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the workforce. Through hands-on training and career readiness support, we equip community members with practical, long-term tools that open doors to stable employment. Their goal is to help individuals in low-income neighborhoods gain the freedom that comes with meaningful work and the ability to contribute to the local economy in ways that strengthen both their families and the community as a whole. Central Detroit Christian is a 32-yea- old organization dedicated to empowering Detroit residents through education, employment, and economic development. Over the years, we have launched 17 businesses, seven of which continue to operate under our umbrella today. Through these enterprises, CDC has trained and employed residents who are low income, living below the poverty line, and experiencing housing instability. Workforce development is central to CDC's mission and has been a catalyst for opportunity for their neighbors. Participants engage in free career readiness training through CDC also receiving comprehensive, wraparound support services. These supports include housing counseling, financial literacy classes, weekly food boxes to address food insecurity, and access to mental health resources, ensuring individuals have the stability and support needed to succeed. The organization is committed to helping residents gain the tools and secure footing so that they can thrive, not merely survive, which benefits not only the individuals and families that CDC serves, but the community, city of Detroit, and state overall.
